I’m torn on this issue. While I hate the idea of this happening, I’m certainly not qualified to suggest what’s best for the university. I’m sure it’s frustrating for existing students — especially those about to graduate — but is it appropriate to recruit new engineering students for a program that will be struggling to survive?
If this was a struggle for survival of the University I would be more torn but I think that the plan is driven more by rankings in USNews & World Report than by the fallout from Katrina because at least one of the cut majors was making the Univserity money.
